I wanted to comment to to the person who saw the woman selling her two
ferrets at a Swap Meet......while I am sure you were trying to do a good
deed - sometimes it is more important to remember that some folks need
to be handled a little bit different. For this gal - unfortunately - it
sounds like you scared her away. Some times when we try to help - people
see our "help" as interference, and take off. And it sounds like that is
what happened with this gal. Sometimes too much information - is just
that. What was it about this woman that made you so appalled? I for
one, would be glad that she was trying to sell them, as opposed to
dumping them on a shelter - or worse, just plain dumping them.( while
yes, she should have made sure that her fuzzies had adequate shelter for
the conditions) I have seen that happen all too often. While I think
that your heart was in the right place, it is a lesson to all of us -
that we can sometimes help "too much" - and cause more harm than good.
I really think that you were trying to do good - but again, we need to
know when to "back off". I know how I feel when people try to "delve
into my business" - without knowing me, or my circumstances - and know
how it would make me feel. I hope, as you do, that someone got ahold
of those little fuzzies and gave them the home they deserve!
