The NOLA Ferret Rescue has the following adoption fees:
Our adoption fee is $90 per ferret under 3 years of age and $160 for a
bonded pair. Ferrets over 3 are $75 as singles and $125 for a bonded
pair. All ferrets are tested for ADV, up to date on distemper and
vaccinations and current on monthly heartworm protection. All adoptions
come with a free office visit from Dr. Rich at the West Esplanade
Veterinary Clinic in Metairie, LA.

We advertise ferrets available for adoption only every few months on
craigslist because we usually get more IN than we adopt OUT.

I got this response today:

THOSE PRICES SOUND LIKE ITS MORE FOR YOU AND YOUR POCKET BOOK THAN IT
IS FOR THE WELFARE OF THESE ANIMALS. NO WAY DOES IT COST ANYWHERE NEAR
THIS AMOUNT FOR SPAY/NEUTER AND HUSBANDRY! IF YOU SOLD THEM FOR A
REASONABLE PRICE MAYBE ALL WOULD BENEFIT. SHAME

Would all you shelter mom's and dad's out there please tell me how you
are lining your pockets by running a ferret rescue because if that is
the care then I am obviously doing something seriously wrong!

If you would be willing to send me an estimate ( or post to the FML )
the cost of running a ferret shelter I am quite eager to get this
person the correct information and hope to god she never has nor ever
will own a ferret.

Best Wishes to all,
Laura Bogren
