Early morning at the Rainbow Bridge has Muldoone at his appointed spot
awaiting the arrival of a champagne fuzzy named Dartanian.

The music in the wind had begun to change and the sad sweet melody could
be heard dancing softly on the breeze. The Ferret Promise song played
for each and every arrival, whispering to their hearts; "rest now wee-one
you are home."

Muldoone felt the familiar tingling in his whiskers and he knew another
was coming. The music in the wind danced around him, singing of welcome
and loss, of love and longing, it sang of the promise that love was
eternal, it sang of the pain of separation, and the sorrow of an aching
human heart.

The flash of light subsided and then Mully heard the unmistakable sounds
of ferrety feets coming across the planks of the Bridge; the Moonbeam
Express having delivered another ferret whose time on earth had been cut
short.

Mully steps forward to greet the new arrival. "Welcomes to da Wainbow
Bwidge Dartanian, I be Mr. Muldoone, officialist Bwidge Gweeter." Mully
leaned forward offering his nose to the new arrival in a friendly
greeting.

The little champagne fuzzy sat down and looked all around at his new
surroundings. Hey, dis pwace be purrdy neats" he exclaimed.

His eyes then rested on Muldoone and remained there for several minutes.

Mully could feel himself being stared at and he sensed a slight blush
beginning to glow. Any minute now Mully thinks to himself, any minute
now I will hear it.

Little Dartanian then cocked his head to one side and gave Muldoone one
more long look. "Hey there Mulligan, what do you do here for fun?" the
new comer wanted to know.

"Da name be Mr. Muldoone, not Mulligan, Mully tells Dartanian narrowing
his eyes. Why did the new arrivals always seem to have trouble with his
name, his name and his hair... I am going to go sees da Boss and ask Him
to make me into an albino named Fred Mully grumbles to himself.

"What did ya say kid? Dartanian asks Muldoone and by the way, call me
Dart."

"Nuffin, I be sayin nuffin" Mully tells him.

Dart takes a long look down at his tummy and takes a paw and rubs it all
over. "Hey my tummy doesn't hurt anymore he exclaimed. I had a tummy
problem but it seems to be all better now."

"Uh yeah, Mully tells him, we habs no more hurts when we gets here, da
Boss fixes us."

"Schazam!" declares Dart, sounds good to me. "Ok, so tell me what does
a guy do here to have fun?" he wanted to know.

"Well we hab wots of fun tings to dooes; we hab da sock steal, tube
waces, dirt mountain, we pway chassies, and odder tings we dooes" Mully
tells him with a twinkle in his eye.

"What kinds of other things?" Dart asks Muldoone.

"It derpendies how much funs you be wooking for, Mully told him. Ebber
hears of a fewet name of Nanna here at da Bwidge?"

"Are you kidding, every ferret knows about Nanna, Dart tells him with
mischief dancing in his eyes, she tries to keep all the guy ferrets in
line but I hears she is getting slow in her old age."

A wave of giggles swept over Muldoone and he could just imagine Nanna
chasing this newcomer down a path, she would show him she was still
plenty fast enough to keep up with the best of any fuzzy arriving at
the Bridge.

"Did I say something funny?" Dart asked Mully.

"Not 'xactly but I not wetts Nanna hears you say dat Muldoone told
him. Hey Darts, you wike fwannel Mully asks him, or how bout fwannel
nightgowns bewonging to gurl fewets?"

Offering his right paw to Muldoone to shake, "I think I am going to like
you."
