I flew Delta three years ago with the five ferrets I had at the time and
they were just fine! Delta was great, too. The flight crew was really
nice and quite interested in my little fuzzies. Everywhere knew to
expect me - we had the ferrets in the cabin and my dog and three cats in
cargo! Note that you can only have one carrier per passenger in the
cabin so you'll have to have a second person to have the second carrier.
Also be sure to book your flight well in advance as they limit the number
of crates in the cabin per flight - it's as low as two or three. You
can reserve your spot and then pay the fee for the crates when you arrive
for your flight. Not sure what the charge is now but when I moved it was
very cheap. I paid $150 for the two carriers in the cabin and had three
ferrets in one and two in the other.

Don't bother putting in food or water - takes up too much space and
they'll make a mess with it. What I did was carry a small bag of kibble
and then a water bottle that I could hold down for them to drink from
once in awhile. I flew all the way from Fort Lauderdale, FL to Seattle,
WA with a two-hour layover at Dallas/Fort Worth. My friend and I took
the crates into a baby-changing room during the layover and let the
ferrets stretch their legs He manned the door while I let one out at a
time. I also piled a bunch of paper towels in one corner and they each
took turns going potty. Not one of them went potty in the carriers
during the flight. I had a small fleece blanket in each carrier which
they snuggled right into.

Email me if you want more info about flying. I was worried it would be
really hard on them but they pretty much snoozed away the majority of the
flight. We did alarm this snooty lady ahead of us during the flight,
though She'd sneered at my crates full of ferrets while we were boarding
and then Oliver let out a shriek during the flight when someone tried to
grab his NBone ;) Be prepared to get lots of attention if you have a
layover. We were mobbed at Dallas/Fort Worth when I took out and cuddled
Duncan. I'm surprised the papparazzi didn't run over expecting to find a
celebrity ;)
