I felt the same way too, but all the shelters and rescues vaccinate and
they are much more knowledgeable than any one else, of course except for
vets.
 
Take rabies for example, it is rare that ferrets get rabies.  However if
they are not vaccinated and someone is bitten by your ferret that does
not know better or refuses to know better, when it does not have a rabies
vaccination, the ferret will be destroyed immediately.
 
Distemper is extremely extremely contagious and your ferrets do not have
to leave the safety of your home to get it.  It is airborne and lives
quite a while.  You can bring it in just being in an area where an animal
with distemper has been, you would not know they have been there because
the virus lives a long time.
 
I hope you will get your babies vaccinated right away.  Remember there
are always 2 sides to every story, but you want to be on the side with
the most evidence and support.  I hope that helps.
