I cringed when I read your hurt. I understand very well what you were
saying and felt.

I am continuing to send out personal thank you letters to the over 300
cards, cash, check, MO and paypal donations, and boxes of supplies sent
to support the Hagerstown/Wolfsville rescue. I, myself, want to do it,
and have not enlisted anyone's assistance in this effort. Perhaps that
was a mistake on my part.

I had never in 8 yrs of sheltering put out a public cry for help. I have
been overwhelmed with my personal quest to respond privately to each of
the 300+ persons, from all over the world, that supported this rescue.

Our facility was prepared to carry out a successful rescue of the 84
ferrets from Hagerstown/Wolfsville. I was not prepared to be able to
respond to the outpouring of support. Honestly, the magnitude of the
response from the ferret community was more than I ever imagined. It
was a first time experience for me and I have failed in a timely response
to all. I hope all will accept my apology.

Volunteers from all over the country came to help. I literally for
months, was taking naps and jumping back up to continue working the
needs and dealing with 80 post ops. All the while, Rocky's continued to
support the rescues and surrenders in Maryland that would have resulted
in euthanasia. Many times we had in excess of 130 ferrets in the
shelter.

I have gotten some acknowledgements out, but am no way complete. I read
about disappointed donor and I completely appreciate her hurt. I just
want to apologize to anyone I have hurt that hasn't received a personal
letter from me yet. But each day, I do a few more and it's very
important to me to respond with a personal note to each one. Yes, it
would be easier to send out one generic thank you letter, but this rescue
was so important to me, and so many others, I want the acknowledgement to
be as gracious as the gifts were.

So for those of you I may have disappointed...a private letter is
forthcoming, as well as a beautiful picture, suitable for framing of
one of the Hagerstown kids in recovery in their new home.

Merry Christmas to all, and thank you for your love and generosity,
and your patience. The success of this rescue is because of you. I have
surely been blessed.

Affectionately,
Barb Clay
