Hi, gang. Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. Just a quick update on what
the plan is up here.

The exotic pet ban ordinance is not going up before the License and
Consumer Safety Committee, as my alderman informed me. I have since
learned from Alderman Burke's office that it is going before the
Committee for Police and Fire, headed up by Alderman Isaac Carothers.

This committee is meeting August 27th at 11:00AM, but they have not
posted their agenda yet. I spoke to Bruce Adelman who works with
Alderman Carothers, and he promised me that he would provide me with
the agenda as soon as he had it.

Bruce wasn't sure whether they would be addressing the ordinance at this
meeting or not. Obviously, they have received several phone calls about
this issue. I'm still remaining optimistic that we can sway them to our
side with a logical, well-presented argument at the committee meeting.

I'm still awaiting the last bit of information to make my information
packets complete. I have also scheduled a meeting for Sunday, August
17th at 3:00 PM in my home. If anyone would like to attend either the
meeting in my home or the committee meeting August 27th, please contact
me so that I can provide additional details.

If you plan to contact your alderman's office, please be nice. I've had
no issues with any of the people I've spoken to thus far (except for a
few rampant cases of blatant ignorance...no surprise, really). Providing
further ammunition for an "Us vs. Them" stance does our cause no good.

Many thanks,

Viki S. Rollins
