Belle is my almost 6 year old first ferret, a scrawny little girl spayed at
5 months old. A few days ago I noticed her vulva was slightly swollen. I
know well what that probably means, but there is a slight sticky yellow
discharge. Could that mean an infection? There are no other classic
adrenal signs: no hair loss or strong odor, etc.

The good ferret vet is out of town until Monday, and I have an appointment
for that morning. But if there is an infection, should I take her to
another vet and get her started on some antibiotics right away?

The funny thing is that she has been more energetic and active for the last
couple weeks. About three weeks ago she had what appeared to be a low sugar
episode, and her fasting glucose level was borderline. I started her on
.3cc pediapred once a day, and after a few days she started gaining weight
and being more active. And now this.

She's my first, my scrawny 3-ribbon winner, the radio star, the fussy
spoiled one who taught me all about what being owned by a ferret means.
