Beginning with Brent Utley, the young man from Arizona whose ferrets were
confiscated and who ended up spending a night it jail, I've been collecting
letters (when I could talk someone into writing) from people hurt in some
way by the ferret ban in California. In some cases it is a Californian
harassed by an over-zsealous warden, in some cases its folks facing a move
to California who already have ferrets in their household. Brent's letter
has been very effective, and many others have been used to illustrate this
ridiculous situation. Please ask the person to include name and address
(otherwise no one believes it and, if Brent hadn't put his name and address
on his letter, it would have been difficult, if not impossible to get the
press coverage we wanted.) If you are a CA resident and have had problems
with DFG but still have ferrets, don't write. I don't want your name and
address to get any extra attention. But if you've had to ship your ferrets
out, please do write. If anyone else knows someone who has a sad story and
either lives in California or lives out of state please ask them to write me
about it at:

Please ask them to keep it to a maximum of 2 pages, preferably one.

Thanks.
