I had an unpleasant change of plans this morning.

Princess had surgery for insulinoma two weeks ago. The vet removed one
lump from the pancreas, but the pathology test came back inconclusive.
Last week and again on Saturday night, she was still showing signs -
falling over, sudden weakness. Last Thursday (with another vet at that
practice) her glucose was 2.3 when the normal is between 5 and 11 (I'm
not sure what scale these numbers represent here in Australia)

Today, we went in for another follow up, where I was expecting some
discussion and a shot of cortizone, but the vet admitted her in for
another surgery. During the first surgery, the vet had seen a bit of
slightly different tissue, but had taken out just the obvious lump.

The vet just called to say that she has come through the anasthetic,
(slower, but ok). This is a relief. The vet and I were both concerned
about a second surgery, but on Saturday night when she was falling over,
she was still determined to explore and play in the tunnels - so she
deserves the best chance we can give her.

Here's hoping that she recovers from the surgery as well as she did two
weeks ago, and that they got all the tumour this time.

The vet is just charging me the minimum he can for this second surgery,
and is going to beg the pathology lab to regard this sample as an extra
on the previous tests (much much cheaper). My bank account thanks him. :)

BTW - Princess is a reformed biter.
