Yesterday I came home from work and found Nibby,my 1 year old deaf baby
lying down with dried blood on her nose.I rushed her to the Vet and he
said there was some blood in her eye and a red bump on her head.He told
me all her vitals are good but it looked like there was some swelling in
her brain. She must have hit her head during one of her adventures. The
room my 2 babies are in are ferret-proofed and I have never had any
problems.Nibby on the other hand is very active and thinks she can fly
sometimes.I adopted her from a lady who probably didnt know she was
deaf. She would bite a lot,but I got her pretty much calmed down when I
discovered her deafness.Anyway, her doctor gave her a couple of shots to
reduce the swelling in brain.I was given eye drops (also for the
swelling) and Amoxi w/anti-inflammatory mixed in.The vet said the next 24
hours will tell us if the brain damage is permanent. After almost no sleep
last night I think she is improving. She goes back to the vet this
afternoon. She still tries to walk around when she is awake but if I dont
assist her she walks like she is drunk, like falling on her side and
losing balance.Has anyone experienced this before? What would her quality
of life be if the brain damage is permanent?Iam praying for the best and
dont want to think about the worst. You can e-mail me if anyone has gone
thru this before.
