A few sentences from the Bay City Times, Sunday, June 15, 1997:
"Rabies too dangerous to chance, officials say"
"Is any measure too drastic when a human life is at stake?  Bay County
officials didn't think so when they euthanized Kodo, the pet ferret of a
Saginaw man, to perform a rabies test on Thursday.
 
"The disease is "almost invariably fatal," said Dr. Cherie L. Drenzek, an
epidemiologist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in
Atlanta, Ga.
 
And the lucky few who survive go through hell to do so.  In its wake,
rabies - the Latin for "rage" or "fury" - destroys the nerve cells of the
brain....

information.  Lots of misinformation is floating around this paper as in
