We are the people who sell the Weezl Watchr Ferret Restraint Gate which is
advertised in Modern Ferret Magazine. There are been a few comments about
the cost of the gates we sell so I would like to clarify.

We sell these gates to support our very busy ferret shelter (Est. 1991) so
when you by one, you also help our shelter--a good thing! Our gates are
made of polycarbonate--the very best material to be had on the market. We
tested various plastic products for years and what we found was that acrylic
and even plexiglas soon dry out (they are petroleum products) and can
shatter like glass when you bend them or knock them over. We pad the top of
our gates with foam and safety tape. An unprotected sheet of plastic can
cut like glass, endangering ferret and owner alike. Polycarbonate is
expensive and so we have a small profit margin (which goes to the ferrets
ONLY), but we do sell the best and safest gate available for this purpose.
They work great, but I do caution against just any plastic product. You can
buy polycarbonate at a specialized plastics outlet, but at retail, it will
run almost as much as our Weezl Watchr Gate and not offer the safety and
protection that our gates do. We are non-profit and our shelter specializes
in medical problems in ferrets.

All the best in the new year. May your ferrets and you stay healthy and
happy!
