I'm not trying to offend the person that wrote the following I'm just trying
to protect the fuzzies from an over zelous animal control officer that may
not care that the bill was passed, however, not law yet, and confiscate them.

>>> Governor Bill Weld of Mass signed HB 295
today (12/7/95), the bill that will legalize the ownership of ferrets as
pets in the state!!!! The bill will be effective in 90 days (I calculate
January 6th as L Day (LEgal day)). <<<<

90 days from Dec. 7, 1995 is March 7, 1996. I just don't want to see
ferrets needlessly harmed because an officer doesn't care that they will be
legal.

BTW- What would happen. I mean it's like ferret purgatory. They are going
to be legal. The law just isn't in effect for now less than ninety days.
Why would an Animal Control Officer want to confiscate one now?

I will be removing my name from the anon-poster list very soon. As soon as
I can find a screen name on AOL incorporating ferrets that isn't already
taken. Which has been very hard to do. I've already attempted 7 with no
luck.

DOGS AND FERRETS

Our German shepard-black lab-beagle mix (can you say MUTT!), Ashley, is too
rambuncious to play with Nixon. She "plays" with him, separated by his wire
cage. She'll lay there and stare at him, and occassionaly she tries to lick,
definitely not bite, him through the cage, and he licks her nose. It's cute.

My 3 1/2 pound 12 year old Yorkie (different house, he lives with my
parents) hates Nixon. Ok, he's more terrified than anything. Of course
he's old and grumpy and really doesn't appreciate sharing attention either.
They were introduced and everything seemed fine. Then we put them on the
floor. Nixon, bounces and dooks, Pudding ( the deal was we got him, mom
named him, the poor dog) runs into a corner, Nixon nudges him with his nose.
The dog growls and barks and tries to run away, but Nixon's too fast. This
happened only once. We now keep them separated. Pudding likes Nixon best
when he's in his cage

Brian
Nixon (Legal in 89 days and counting)
Ashley (What is this cold, wet, white stuff on the ground? I don't know but
it tastes better than dirt.)
Quibby (It's snow you idiot)
Imus (Snow what's snow?)
