Hi everyone,

You may remember me from a few months ago, I was the one with the ill
husband, ferrets in need of surgery and no money.

Well things have been looking up for so long in our house I had forgotten
how much my heart can ache with my babies are ill.

Last night I watched Dweezil suffer from seizures. I realize that this
is insulinoma and have made an appointment with the vet for tomorrow
afternoon. He did all the classic signs, play time decreased, sleeping
more than normal and deeper, drunk walk, bobbing of head, spaced out look,
etc. I can't say how long he has been this way, but I noticed the sleeping
change in the last month or so. I just put it up to old age (5 yrs). I
can't tell you how horribly guilty I feel for not noticing this before.
The saddest thing in all this is that Dweezil is our first ferret. I now
have the horrible task of telling my husband that his baby is ill and there
isn't a whole lot that can be done. Please understand, I know this isn't a
death sentence and Dweezil can live a few more years comfortably, but for
us, it's heart wrenching.

As to all my other 10 kids, everyone is fine. Scooter is going in for
adrenal surgery next month and Ozzy is going to be fixed sometime soon.
Though I love him dearly, my stinky, oily man just needs to be fixed. We
as a family are doing ok. My husbands disability came in back in February
and I just paid off one whole back due bill this morning. I'm thankful
that Dweezil is having problems now, when I can afford to feed us and
take care of him too.

I would also like to thank Kathy Gallagher for her post the other day on
diet for insulomic ferrets, good timing. I can totally relate to what
Dweezil is suffering through as I am a diabetic and have been in the
"spaced out stare" zone myself. Well they say pets and owners resemble
one another!

Carrie
