Hairless tail

Farrah's tail isn't completely hairless, but she has lost about 90% of the
hair from her tail.  Someone wrote back and suggested it might be stress,
but she seems to lead a stressless life.  Does anyone have any ideas?
Should we take her to the vet or should we just ignore it?
