Vaccinations sometimes don't provide protection in the animal.  (I am
currently looking into the various known causes for vaccination failure, and
will be posting them on my rabies resource website.) It's for this reason
that cats and dogs which are current on their vaccinations are quarantined
*anyway* usually for about 10 days.
