Hi,

Our Meep (4 yrs old) has drastically lost weight since having surgery 4
weeks ago for a mast cell tumor on his leg, and the vet is having us force
duck soup as he is doing very little eating on his own. He was 2lb2oz and
is down to 1lb12oz today. How often should he be fed and how much at a
time? Should we be feeding in the night? How much is too much (don't
want to burst his belly!) and so on. We are working on finding out what
the problem is, but in the meantime we are trying to keep him alive and as
healthy as possible. Since we started this (two days ago) he is perkier,
but still not his "old self".

This is the first time we've had to do this and I am more than a little
unsure of the whole process. Meep is fighting us every step of the way,
but at least he is eating. The only thing that I've seen him take
voluntarily is Ferretvite. He isn't vomiting, no diarrhea, etc. Smaller
(not thinner) stools, but that is expected with how little he is eating.
Also....any good tips on force feeding a ferret without doing bodily
damage to him?

I would appreciate any experienced advice!
