To Barbara Kelsey: I really think you must have misunderstood what your vet
said.  It is the testicles that are removed during neutering, NOT the penis!
All male Ferts will have a "bellybutton like" penis wether they are neutered
or not.  (it's used for other things than reproduction, a "must have" sort
of thing) I can't say for sure about Ferrets and this "penis bone" but in
all my years as a dog owner I've never heard such a thing.  Sorry, I really
don't mean to sound preachy or demeaning, hope you don't take me wrong.
But, if this is actually what your vet said, (about not having a penis due
to neutering) I'd get another vet.

expert, but, yes, the bone is the Os Penis and is typical in carnivores,
though it appears in other animal groups too.  BIG]
