Hi I just read your post about your ferret and vulva. My ferret had a
swollen vulva also and after many consultations with three vets, I finally
hooked up with a vet who knew something about ferrets. It can be a sign of
Adrenal Disease. In my ferret Io, it most definaltely was. She had
exploratory surgery ( they weren't sure until they opened her up) and they
removed a 1 cm tumor. From the sounds of it, with the hair loss, this is
probabley the problem and hormone replacement won't work. Incidentally, Io
never lost a bit of hair although she did develop a licking obsessin with
my skin that went away after the surgery. There is also an adrenal mialing
list that has tons of info and you might want to check it out. I don't
know the address, but if you do a serach, you'll find it.

Good Luck

Pamela
