I can definitely confirm what Nancy said about female adrenal ferrets.
My sweet Noodles was downright mean before both of her adrenal surgeries.
She would circle the 120# dog making these chirping type noises.  The poor
dog didn't know what to think, but he surely tried to get out of Noodles
way.  She also did a lot of hissing with her cage mates - and was extremely
kissy to her adults She would also attack the cats and try to ride on their
backs..
