Loved your story !!!  I have to share our fix for potted house plants.  I
have a ficus in a five gallon pot, a ferrets dream!  We had dirt spread up
to 10 feet away more than once.  We placed medium sized rocks over the soil.
Two years and counting and not one af seven ferrets has been able to get
past the rocks.  You can still water the plants as normal!
