As a registered (people) pharmacist who compounded meds for a
veterinarian I'd like to say only one thing about the current
herbal treatment debate.
 
Forget about herbal vs chemical treatment & remember that ferrets are not
the same species as humans!  All species react differently to different
things & a safe & efffective treatment for one species can be toxic to
another!  Also, it does not require a very large dose of a toxic
substance to have serious adverse effects in an animal as small as a
ferret.  Do not experiment with ANY medicinal substance between species!
For the sake of the animals, please heed this warning.
