Many years ago, a little ferret came to me by accident. Her name was
DeeDee. An Albino girl that was around 4 yrs old that I rescued from an
abusive, ne glectful teenager. DeeDee was my first ferret. She taught
me much about these wonderful creatures called ferrets. She stayed with
us for 7 yrs, when we had a horrific house fire and she then went to live
with my brother as I was not able to take her with me. DeeDee was a fun
loving escape artist. About a year after the fire, my brother called me
and told me she was very ill. She was very lethargic and had started
losing her fur. I told him to take her to my vet and to have the vet
make her comfortable cause I knew at the age of 12, there weren't many
options for her. Her symptoms all pointed to Adrenal. I knew her time
here was nearly done. Within hours of my brothers call, DeeDee has past
peacefully in her sleep.

It has now been 5yrs since that phone call and I think about her all the
time when I see my current 3 play. I have an albino boy that other than
his size reminds me of her.

Despite her horrible treatment before she came to me, she was a very
loving ferret who loved her green sleep sack , her blue and pink blankey
and her bouncy balls. Everyday she danced, dooked and chattered whenever
she played and and did her sneak attacks on everyone. She loved to dig
in the cats freshly cleaned litter box so she may be hiding in the kitty
part of the bridge. Can you just check on her and see how she is doing
up there and tell her I am sorry I wasn't there with her to say goodbye
before her journey, I have always regretted not being able to take her
with me here. I know 12 years are a long time for a ferret and I just
hope that I did everything I could to make up for the bad treatment she
got prior to us getting her. I miss her and just want to thank her for
the lessons she taught me about ferrets and that because of her, I now
know I will always have ferrets in my house and pawprints in my heart!!
