I had a pet mongoose when I lived in West Africa and the personalities
and behaviors of the mongoose and the ferret, as well as general
appearance, is very similar. Mongooso was satisfied with one potty area,
though which, fortunately, was right behind the toilet in the bathroom.
A change of newspapers took care of potty hygiene.

You may be correct about the dog/cat superfamily thing though. The
similarities could be superficial and, after all is said and done, all
species can trace their roots back to the same primordial ooze and those
of us with spiritual inclinations even further into the Mind/Heart of
God.
