Dooks and Licks All!

I'm sorry to say I haven't gotten many responses in my search for a vet,
not that I blame anyone here, it just seems like there aren't many people
on the list in the area. I did get a recommendation for a vet in
Washington but that's about a 100 mile round trip. If nothing closer comes
along I guess I'll be going there, I still need to speak with the vets in
the area I'm moving to, its not a very internet friendly place....*yet*.
<VWEG> A thought to someone with some extra time....how about starting a
listing of ferret vets and specialists...I've looked everywhere and come
up with nothing.

I also wanted to add a quick clarification, maybe I wasn't clear in my
first post. We aren't considering getting Dhugal descented because of
smell problems. Dhugal has lived in our home for over two years and
has poofed at least weekly if not daily multiple times. We are ferret
folks...the smell is just something we live with. The reason we are
considering descenting him is to keep peace with the folks and even at that
we still aren't going to do it just because we are moving, they will have
to complain. I have read some very convincing arguements for both sides,
but the fact of the matter is, I don't want to put him through surgery
unless I have to. What I did want is to find a vet that could do it before
hand so if it needed to be done it could be done right away. Again, this
is all in the interests of keeping peace with the family. So to everyone
who is sending me email urging me not to waste the money or not to mutilate
my ferret, thank you very much for your concern, but that isn't what my
post was about. On the other hand, if you have had experience with
descenting an older ferret (again, he is approx 3 years old) I would like
to hear your tale.

I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to respond. It seems
I just missed a thread on this subject so I'm waiting for the archives to
be posted so I can check it out.

Carrie & Dhugy (who has no idea that snow is coming....can't wait to see
him play in it!)
