Okay, I give up; I'm confused. What's the big deal here? There's a
list. It's not automated. So this busy guy generously donates his time and
possibly some of his hard-earned money to monitor it. Every list has rules --
if you get any of the automated ones, the SERVER sends you an automatic list
from the very beginning informing you of them, and Chris, if anything, is a
bit more leanient than most of those. Maybe Chris figured we were all adult
enough to figure them out without being told. I'm sure he thought we were all
adult enough to be reasonable about them when they *were* put in writing.
Perhaps, Chris, you should start sending new subscribers a list of these very
few rules, just so they know from the beginning and won't think it's something
different. So anyway, this guy is willing to sit here and sift through all
these messages, that *we* send through, but he's not supposed to comment on
them like anyone else on the list? Out of respect for the readers, I will
censor my expletive: BALONEY! I mean, this whole thing is just plain silly.
I'm sorry if that offends the people whom Chris has irritated by his handling
of the list, but you people just aren't being reasonable. And as far as his
bracketed comments, why should he have to go to the extra time, trouble, (and
money, as he has already mentioned), to copy people's messages and insert
quotes when he can just make his comment directly -- like he said, the vast
majority of the time, it's been in answer to a question, and I for one have
always greatly appreciated his comments. I think you're doing a great job,
Chris, and I don't think you should change anything. This list is far more
pleasant and personal than any other I've seen, and I look forward to getting
it everyday (the only reason automation could be a plus -- guaranteed daily
delivery! -- but I know you do your best, Chris). That's all -- I wasn't
going to say anything, but I got so irritated after reading some of the
unreasonable (not to mention nasty) comments I felt I just had to say
something.
