This is for the person who asked about an insulinoma-specific duck soup.
 
We have fed several insulinoma-affected ferrets over the last three years
and this is what I made their soup from...
 
half-and-half purified water and Exceed premium chicken &rice kibble
(close to the same as other high-cost((extra-high quality))
chicken-and-rice kitten&catfood kibbles, but costs less, and both our 9
cats and 29 ferrets Love it and have been living healthily for over 7
years on it)
 
with a couple of jars of gerber's chicken babyfood, whole eggs (I make
a gallon at a time, so it's about six to eight whole eggs per gallon's
worth, which lasts just three days around here... :)  eight capsules (per
gallon, cut number of herb-capsules in half for a half-gallon, and cut
to half that, again, for a quarts' worth) of dandelion root, which is
soothing to small tummies.
 
four capsules (per gallon) of milk thistle for liver support
eight capsules of red clover flowers *OR* six capsules/tablets of =
echinacea (immune system support).
 
four drops of colloidal silver, (which can be either bought in any drug
store or nutrition store Or made at home) to safely destroy gram-negative
bacteria before adding the six whole eggs.
 
and, Very Important for the insulinomics!...papaya enzyme...which I buy
in tablet-form, off the shelf, inexpensively...for a gallon's worth of
"soup", crush and mix in ten tablets, at least.
 
The papaya enzyme helps break down the protiens For them, as their
ability to digest grows poorer.  Currently, all my "geriatric" ferrets
get some of this every day, only they also are currently getting a
teaspoonfull of pure cinnamon powder in their duck soup mix because
cinnamon has been shown in humans to attack the (specific) bacteria
which causes stomach and intestinal ulcers (so that's HALF a teaspoon
for half a gallon, and a quarter-teaspoonfull for a quart...all things
in moderation as just a Little bit does the trick! :)
 
You will find, as we did, that your insulinoma-affected ferret Will
require extra digesting enzymes from your vet, get the papaya enzyme
tablets for them(inexpensive, over-the-counter) and ask your vet about
any other digesting enzyme aids...every little bit will help!  And you'll
have the peace-of-mind of at least knowing you've done everything that
could be thought of to help your fur-baby eat.
