The little guy might be lonely.  Baby ferrets are not used to sleeping
alone.  When our ferret Buttercup was a kit, she cried when she was alone.
As soon as she was picked up, she curled up and slept contentedly.  Enjoy
your ``lap ferret'' while you can--soon she'll be more independent and
you'll wish she would cuddle more.
 
What worked for us to get Buttercup to sleep alone at night was to give her
a sleep tube that our other ferrets had been using.  She found it comforting
to be surrounded by the soft fabric that smelled like other ferrets.  I
guess it made her feel like she was not sleeping alone.
