Well, our slinkies went in yesterday for their annual Rabies & Distemper
shots. Well, Weasie and Farrah did, Dakota got his 2nd Distemper shot
and will get his Rabies with the next Distemper (2 weeks). Anyway,
everything seemed fine and I was waiting to pay our bill (I needed an
EMC team when I saw the total!) when I noticed Dakota had what looked
like vomit on him. He appeared to be fine though, then I noticed Weasie
making regurgitating motions. I asked the receptionist if she could
get the Dr. back out and by the time I got Weas out of the carrier
she was almost limp but conscious. They took Farrah & Dakota (actually,
the whole carrier) too and asked if they could keep an eye on them for
a half hour or so, I nervously agreed.

I went down the street to say hi to a friend and then got a soda. When
I got back to the Vet's, they told me Weasie was doing better but they
wanted to keep her overnight for observation. Farrah and Dakota showed
no signs of a reaction though. They went home with me and were/are
fine.

Is this fairly common? The Vet explained that such a reaction could
potentially be fatal and that's why he wanted to keep her under observation.
She got her series last spring and never showed any such signs of
reaction to them. I think it was Pam Greene or Ann Davis who was
circulating a Vaccine Questionnaire last year. Is that still being done?
If so, put us down for 1 violent reaction and two 0 reactions.

I called this morning and they said she was doing fine and could most
likely go home this afternoon, Judy should be picking her up right
about now!

Well, this will most likely be my last post as we're off to Vegas this
Sunday! Weasie & Farrah have their Health certificates and I'm hoping
to avoid any snags at the airport (I won't bore you with that all over
again!). I will post a trip report, good or bad on how we were treated
by the airline (America West) and their attitudes towards our slinkies.

If anyone has any insight on the Distemper reaction, please post! I will
be reading my mail up to late Sunday morning and I'm anxious to hear
of other people's experiences and/or Dr.'s Brown and Williams knowledge
of it. Is it something to be apprehensive of each time? Or just be aware
of the possibility?

Thanks in advance and I'll talk to you all in two weeks!
