Olive contributing to fatty liver disease?

I've been told that olive oil contributes to fatty liver disease in small
animals.  I've been using it about 7 yrs after somone suggested using it
instead of linotone and the fact that it is an ingredient in linotone.
 
Does anyone know for a fact this is true?  Citation?
