Tip: Sign up on Google Alerts for ferret. There is also a Yahoo Alerts
but I find that it rarely works.

Yesterday a news story gotten that way said that the lab results are
not back yet, that they are being very careful, also that the kids are
with a relative and their parents are not allowed near them, that the
baby will be having toes put in place of fingers with the Shriners
paying for it, and that the parents have not at this time been taken
into custody but the range of things with which they may be charged
will be determined after the lab results are completely back.

See:

Notice the timeline involved in the article. It would be impossible
for anything with a tiny mouth (including a ferret) to remove so many
fingers so rapidly if the parents were present and not passed out.
(Also, I honestly find it hard to imagine many ferret bellies fitting
that much volume, and having had ferrets for about 30 years I DO know
how they can pig out, but whether this one could or not the timeline
in the parental statements makes no sense at all.)

I am still wondering if the dog (or maybe even a parent) did it and if
the ferret was just investigating afterward.
