For travel, I have what looks like a rabbit cage. It's a long narrow
sturdy metal cage that easily fits in the back seat of the car with
room to spare. I put one of those Rubbermaid plastic boxes in the back
as a litter pan and clamp it down with the woodworking clamps that look
like giant clothespins. I also use this cage as a post surgery or sick
cage and use a Rubbermaid box with the front cut out for easy entry. I
put towels and blankets on the floor. I use stainless steel coop cups
for birds to hold food and water. I'll also put a water bottle over the
water cup so if it drips, it drips into the cup. Two ferrets can be
pretty comfortable in there for many hours. It can be cramped for a
healthy ferret overnight but it works well in the car. I have a
collapsible cage that I use for overnight stays.
