Hi there,

It occurred to me last night that a Ferret Olympics would be quite a sight.
As I watched Alexander doing 50 mph up the tube with Roxana hot on his butt,
that he would be a perfect sprinter! Plus, when he turned around and they
started going at each other in the tube, it made perfect sense that some
kind of wrestling event would be needed!!!

Perhaps I should mention, I got a new cage called Ferret Kingdom. They had
never shared a cage before, but this they would share! If it kills me, and
it just might!!! They are getting use to each other compared to the first
day, when Alexander held Roxana by the scruff of the neck off the edge of
the second level. Just held her their dangling in mid air! Both tails
wagging so fast I didn't need an air conditioner on! No hissing, just the
tails.

But Alexander wouldn't let her up to eat or get in her hammock. She got up
their once while he was asleep, but being the silly girl she is she started
to climb in his hammock with him. He woke up and leaned forward groggily
looking at her, and startled her. She jumped back and, her being at the
edge, promptly fell to the bottom of the cage. Needless to say, she gave up
for the night.

However, the next day she beat Alexander out, and pushed him off the top
level to the bottom and got some food and carried it back to her hammock
where she ate and slept. (For all those wondering, no they didn't get hurt
when they fell to the bottom, and there are shirts at the bottom for
sleeping/cushioning.)

Yesterday, I walked in to quite a sight. Alexander in his hammock asleep,
and Roxana in her hammock asleep! I was quite surprised since the hammocks
are next to each other except for the food in the middle. (I arranged it
this way so that they would learn how to share. However, since Alexander
still tries to keep Roxana at bay from the food, we have moved her food bowl
to the bottom level along with her water bottle. She is pleased to say the
least!!)

Oh, one last thing: To anyone considering a ferret tunnel made by
Ferretrail. . . be prepared to replace the plastic chains they provide.
Here's why: We have the tube hooked up for access to the second level. The
top end rests on the second level. Roxana crawled in the tube last night
and was laying in there when the chains gave way and the tube fell. Roxana
layed in their looking quite stunned at what had just happened and slowly
got out. She sniffed around it, decided it was dead, and started wardancing
around it, on it, in it, and biting at any part of it she could. I was
laughing so hard I darn near fell out of the chair!!! But the chains are
being replaced today!

Gotta go!!!

Dee
