ive only made one trip with my 4 ferrets it was a 2 day drive from ohio
to texas and then 2 days back.  Right before the trip i bought a new
minivan and one of the necesities for it was easaly removeable/stowable
seats (we got removable).  we took our ferret nation cage with the base
removed worked great except it took up alot of room, however the top of
the cage is sturdy enough to put a fully loaded cooler.the entire trip we
had the AC blastin to keep them cool and happy, we stoped every 2 hours
and setup the playpen and let them play for 30 min, i gave them ice alot
to play with whenever we stoped for gas or food also give them a flea
treatment before you leave and keep a quick flea spray bottle handy a
full water bottle will drain in 2 hours from the vibrations so bring
towels and keep changing them, give lots of treats and toys to keep them
happy dont turn the radio to loud, with the car running its extremly loud
to them and that can be stressful i made my kids use headphones the whole
trip so i could listen for any noises of distress, i also kept their
harnesses on from the moment we left the house untill we arrived.
 
cant think of anything else right now except make sure you get
certificates of health for them (i forgot) and get a list of every ferret
shelter on your way to find out if theres any areas around them where
ferrets are illeagal and also if they get lost on the way you know the
most likely place they will end up

oh and one more thing make sure you have enough room my ferrets and
their "travel kit" i made took up more room then 2 weeks worth of
luggage for 5 people.

P.S.  one more thing NEVER LEAVE THEM IN THE CAR ALONE.  I stayed with
them at all times when i had to use the restroom i waited untill my
family was done so they could keep an eye on them.
