Just 2 comments unrelated to anything really, but both about deafness...

One of the ferrets (Molly) who I adopted from Randy's (Toronto) shelter is
a lovely dark-eyed white with a tiny patch of black on her head. When we
first met, she was running around like crazy, so Lily (my dog) started
barking at her. It was obvious she is NOT deaf and that she could hear
Lily quite well. So not all DEW's are deaf (though I do have another DEW
who is deaf. I believe this allows Merlin to focus VERY intently on
tearing down any ferret barrier I have ever put up). Merlin also LOVES
plastic bags as much as any of my other ferrets who hear. So it isn't just
the sound that they like. Just thought I'd pass on those 2 observations.

The MaFF Halloween frolic was a lot of fun; congratulations to Jill
Northrup for organizing another wonderful event!
