Hi,

I adopted Chance from Bev Fox and it didn't bother me one bit writing out a
check to her instead of a shelter name, as I knew she operated from her
home and was not affiliated with a club. I don't blame her one bit for not
wanting to spend money on a bank account that will not maintain a balance.
Bless her and anyone else who has the time and means to take in unwanted
ferrets and care for them when no one else wants them. My Chance was going
to be put down by a pet store because he bit. He has turned out to be a
special ferret. Thanks, Bev, for saving him and giving me the opportunity
to adopt him. You don't need any fancy letterhead, checking account,
non-profit status, etc., to qualify as a shelter in my book. As a member
of the Ferret Association of CT, I know it cost a lot of time and money to
gain that non-profit tax-exempt status. I prefer time and money be spent
on the ferrets instead of an accounting of how much food, litter, etc., a
home shelter purchases each month.

Now, I also realize there are some con artists out there, but not having a
separate checking account in the name of a shelter does not make a shelter
any less of a shelter.

Moxie and Chance
