Painting: "Ariel - She lights the way so more could follow"

by Alicia Geilenberg - Drakiotes, artist

Original Pastel Painting on sanded board (archival)
10 x 13 inches
in gold finish frame under glass
$395.00 Value

("She Lights the way...."
A portrait of Ariel

( Ariel made her way to FerretWise in January of 1995 after being one
of 19 ferrets to be confiscated by authorities in Massachusetts. The
ferrets had been stored for 2.5 years in a u-haul storage compartment-
no heat in winter, no air in summer, they were living in filth and most
were malnourished. Crates & cages were chipped clean of debris and many
cages had to be destroyed. Ariel was adopted by a rescuer at the age
of 3.5 years, the person tried to breed her- and she was dropped off
here thought to be with litter. Ultimately we had the vet implement an
emergency spay when her due date passed and a very infected uterus was
retrieved - Ariel survived pyometra infection. After healing, Ariel
bonded and we allowed her to stay on. She lived another 2.5 years
before succumbing to insulinoma. Her character & will to live was an
inspiration. )
