I've seen this mark in several ferrets.  In most cases, the mark appears on
ferrets with adrenal disease.  As I have never seen a biopsy of it, I'm not
quite sure what it is.  But it is very characteristic, just like you
described it.  I would suggest having your ferret looked at by a
ferret-knowledgable vet for other signs of adrenal disease.
