I thought I might share my experiences and findings with ferrets. I have
2, and a kitten. I own a home and a cabin... and travel between both
places weekly, with all my pets. They run free in all areas of my homes,
except for construction areas. I work at home, so snuggle my pets all the
time.

I have been working hard at the poop issue... and have come to realize that
ferrets really POOP a lot, and that's that. I have done a few things to
make my ferret's multiple toilets tolerable... And WOULD APPRECIATE OTHER
PEOPLE's IDEAS AND SUCCESS STORIES!!!

- I got a big litter box, rectangular, for the cat. I keep one in the main
areas of my house, and one in my bedroom, where all my fuzzies sleep.

- I don't use a cage or carrier except on travel, and my cages are all
simply "places to hold my ferret's hammocks", and are open at all times,
except when I am doing some maintenance that the ferrets could get hurt in.

- I have developed "Poopy Corners"... which can be made by anyone with
really no tools or experience. These are flat litter boxes designed to
cover the areas that ferrets sometimes sneak to to poop. They are kitchen
tiles, stuck back to back, with molding which goes against the walls. Duct
tape these things to prevent leaks, and pour a little litter and baking
soda to absorb moisture and keep down smells. they are easy to clean
because they can be lifted up and handled at people level. I spray them
with an anti-bacterial agent, like Lysol, regularly.

- I use the "puppy mistakes" ruglets used for breaking in puppies, with
tape to hold the things to the floor, to keep poop and pee off the rugs
around the square litter boxes.

- My cat likes to bury ferret poop as a hobby.

And that is that...

mark.
