I don't know about the "checking" of things...maybe your ferret just
wants to be sure all is in place before leaving his "area." They are
quite the possessive little hoarders, you know.

Our ferret, Daxter, follows us around staring, too. I will offer him a
treat-which sometimes he accepts, sometimes not, sometimes takes it and
scampers off to hide it. Most of the time I'll pick him up and carry him
with me to wherever I'm headed and soon put him down. He seems to like
that, because he always does want down after a few moments. My son will
drag an old blanket for him to chase, jump at or ride on whenever he
"stalks" him like that....I think most of the time it's that Daxter is
just wanting to be entertained. Or, maybe the fuzzies just want to look
at us. At least they're interested, right? Daxter was mostly curious
about everything around him except for us for the longest time, so now
that he's going on his second birthday in November..well, it's nice for
a change to have him being more personable.

Whatever the reason--if there is one, it's really cute, though, isn't it?
