It was a lovley sunny spring day on Tuesday, so I decided to take the dogs
and our 2 fuzzies for a walk down to the river. Woody doesn't like walking
on tarmac, so I put the ferrets in their carrying bag while the dogs and I
walked over the road and down to the bottom football field near us. I let
the ferrets out as soon as we hit grass, they were on their harnesses and
immediately began the *flat ferret* routine and rolled around in the grass.
You can tell they enjoy it so much, even more than in the garden coz of the
different smells I suppose. It took us nearly an hour to do a fifteen
minute circuit of the football pitch and tour of the gravel river bank
beach! Then we came back ( much to everyone's disgust) and, as we have to
cross a main road to get back, I picked the ferrets up ready to return them
in their bag, but they had other thoughts. You ever tried wrestling two
ferrets who don't want to get into a canvas bag whilst holding three dogs
on leads? It's not much fun , well, maybe it is for the onlookers.:-)
Anyway the upshot of it was the ferrets crossed the road riding on my
shoulders like they do in the house. I made damn sure there were no cars
coming and had them on tight leads though......just in case! Then we
walked up the hill to our house and Buzz wanted to get down so he walked
next to the JRT on the lead on one side while the lurchers walked on the
other side and Woody supervised from next to my right ear. It certainly
gave the neighbours something to talk about.............I think one old
lady really believed Buzz was a minature terrier! :-))

First rule of walking ferrets outside.............make sure you're not in a
rush to be anywhere!:-)
