Well, we don't knw quite what is going with Scooter, but our vet just
left. He drove here with emergency stuff because the roads got bad and
he has a four wheel drive, and Scooter is going to need monitoring all
night and all day and possibly all night and all day tomorrow.

Steve just went to bed just now. We are on shofts thatare tighter than
the ones with Sevie now because he needs that.

Scootie is a folding cage, top open on our dining room table, which
served as his treatment table, with his IV hanging from the candleabra
(Knew we got that years ago for more than just beauty.) He had a cut down
and a catheter placed, and meds for nausea since he's got bad vomiting,
and dex. He has Pred and Diazoxide on board and we're just trying to get
him better than just stable now.

His blood pressure had gotten very low and he was very unresponsive. For
a while there wwe were all worried that he may have taken brain damage
but he came around okay. He able to move around and even took a very
tiny bit of Nutrical.

It's not unlikely that he has surgery before him, but first we have to
get him stable enough and see what happens.

Okay, he passed a furball about 3/4 of an inch long and 1/3 of an inch
wide. Toots is the boy with the very strange and malformed stomach that
doesn't work right. For a while it looked like we'd lose him, too.

So, anyway, I'll get off-line now and read while I watch him, maybe eat
something.

[Update at 27 Jan 2003 02:21:09 -0500]:

Well, Tootie's blood pressure is coming back enough that he was bleeding
back up his IV tube suddenly, so he needed to have more IV run for a
short while. Had to wake up our vet again to learn this. Apparently,
with him we may have to do that on and off. Scary but it actually is a
good sign. He actually has begun making some comfortable sleep noises
now. He may be touch and go for a bit.
