To the anonymous poster -
We were struck with severe ECE in March of 96. We are still contagious....
Our initial severe bout lasted 6 weeks, then we had a noticable change,
however it wasn't until our 6th month that we had everyone through the
critical stage. We currently have one older female, Rikki, that still has
very loose grainy sometimes profusely watery stools. She's been treated
with everything we and our vet can think to try.

For meds we use:
Kaopectate - 1/2 - 1 cc every 4 hours as needed
Pepto Bismal tablets - finely crushed and added to recipe
Amoxi - .20 cc per 2 lbs
Slippery Elm Bark tincture - 3 drops per feeding mixed with recipe
Homeopathic Diarrhea Therapy - 2 drops per feeding mixed with recipe

Free access to Pedialyte or Ensure - as much as they want to keep them
hydrated without resorting to sub-Q.

Feed special recipe every 2-4 hours - depends on severity in each individual
animal.

If anyone would like our ECE handouts, email me and I'll forward them.

Hugs to all. tle
