Dr. Hoffman and I have debated this topic at length. It would seem that
Domesticated would be the correct scientific term to use. However, Domestic
is the correct common usage and in the legal community carries a different
meaning. When working in before a court or city council domesticated seems
to imply that the domestication process is still ongoing whereas domestic
means it is complete. This may not be accurate from a scientific or even a
dictionary standpoint but this is the emotional response. I have often
argued to use the vernacular even if it is wrong. Therefore I feel
"Domestic" would be a better choice.
