in the category of annoying ferret questions.

People frequently ask "Oh, aren't ferrets illegal?" We live in New Jersey,
so we're nowhere near an illegal state, but that shows how the "knowledge"
spreads. How I answer that question depends upon my mood, but I generally
explain that ferrets are tame, don't carry rabies, and very few states ban
ferrets, yada, yada, yada. I don't really think of this as a "dumb"
question, but on the FML, someone was asking about dumb questions. I am
generally not annoyed at the asker as much as the general perception of the
public.

A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.
