Last tidbit from Pet Product News, Jan 96 issue:
 
"Wasseman [spokesperson for PetsMart] said PetsMart's corporate donations
are made through PetsMart Charities and that none are made to either PETA or
HSUS.  A statement issued by PetsMart reads in part: "PetsMart has no formal
or informal relationship with PETA not HSUS.  PetsMart is unaware of any
investment that either organization has made in PetsMart stock.  Any rumors
to the contrary are false.  Our company chooses to be neutral in matters of
lobbying, petitioning, or boycotting of any kind.  It is simply not
productive for us to take sides in controversial issues."

Just thought it was interesting to see PeTA and HSUS lumped together.  I've
always known that PeTA's ultimate goal is to remove all animals, including
pets, from the care and use of humans - is HSUS turning down this same
path???
