Our four-five year old, Squirt (we got her from a shelter and aren't
certain of her exact age) recently had adrenal surgery.  She'd been
displaying weight loss, then this spring her vulva became enlarged pretty
rapidly.  No hair loss, however.  The vet did adrenal surgery and said her
left adrenal was somewhat enlarged, so it was removed.  There were no
reproductive organ remnants that the vet could see, and the right adrenal
was not visible, hence not enlarged.
 
This was done six weeks ago, and her vulva is still as swollen as ever,
though she never has lost much fur.  I have spoken to the vet a couple of
times, and I've been told to give it some more time.  My question -- when
should I start to become concerned?  The poor baby is *not* comfortable,
and I'm worried about other adverse affects on her health.  Is it possible
something else is causing the swelling?  The vet did mention that hormone
therapy might be necessary if the swelling didn't go down, but we didn't
really have the time to talk about it indepth.  Can someone explain?
