Hi everyone,

I have a problem with my ferret Eddie (Eduardo Zeppelin-Godzilla von
Sockslayer-- don't ask). Poor Eddie, I haven' even introduced him on
the FML yet and I have to open with a problem. He's about six months
old, a big healthy ox of a baby boy, but this morning at about 5:30
I was awakened to the sound of a horrible sounding cough. At first I
thought he was choking from eating too fast (not unheard of with him)
but it kept going, this awful wheezy sound. Slightly panicked and
barely awake, I grabbed him and peered down his throat to make sure
nothing was stuck. I didn't see anything, then Eddie decided it must be
time to play and attacked the pillowcase. He seemed completely unfazed
by the episode. I scoured the FHL archives, and found what sounded like
a similar problem; unfortunately there was no reply to the original
question. I gave him a good dose of Laxatone in case it's hair-related
and put him back to bed. About ten minutes later, he started coughing
again. Then he went and ate some food, drank some water, and went to
sleep. Maybe an hour later, same thing.

I had to go to work at nine (that's where I am now), and have been a
nervous wreck all day. I called the vet but the earliest she could fit
me in was Monday morning. I wish I could call him up and say "Eddie,
are you still coughing? Do you feel ok?" It sounds almost like an
asthma attack-- I couldn't really find a clear answer on whether
ferrets even get asthma. Anyone have any experience with a wheezy
cough like this? I did see that air conditioning can cause coughing,
and I recently moved, ferrets and all, into a bedroom where the air
conditioning is usually on. Could it be allergies in the new house?

I just want my little baby boy to be ok. I'll keep you all posted, hugs
