Hello fellow ferrety friends.
Dooks to all. It's been a while since I've posted, so I've built up a
number of questions & comments for your perusal. I apologize in advance
for my post being long, esp. to those who download their email. Here
goes the first part.

1. Thank you to everyone who responded to my first posting re. ferret
arrythmias, sweaters, leashes, etc.; Spencer's arrythmia turned out to
be nothing serious. I will soon be purchasing the harness/leash set
from the Warm Fuzzy Ferret Shelter thanks to your recommendations. I
feel much smarter for having heard from all of you!

2. I wanted to see if Sandee could check up on my little boy Zeus.he went
to the bridge on March 13th. Zeus was a foster boy who came to me in
January. Zeus & his bonded pal Chloe were ditched by their previous owner
at their vet's office in early 2001 sometime. They were there for about
a year until coming to me via my shelter mom. Chloe integrated into my
little busyness nicely, but Zeus was so lethargic & quiet that the others
didn't really know what to do with him. (is that a ferret or a footstool,
Mommy??) After a few bouts with diarrhea, emergency vet visits & teeth
grinding over the course of a month & a half, Zeus passed. I don't know
from what since he seemed like he had a little bit of everything (adrenal,
possible ulcer, possible insulinoma, possible cancer, infections, etc.);
my vet never actually got to give him an official checkup because we were
always rushing him off for emergency treatment. I am still feeling a lot
of futile anger over the fact that Zeus was living with a VET for a year
before he came to me in such a bad state. Please don't anyone flame me
over this, I know it was an act of kindness for the vet to take them in,
and I know how busy they are. But still. Even though I had him for such
a short time, it was as though a piece of my heart was ripped out & left
bleeding to death. I am tearing up as I write this, even though it's been
almost a month. Every animal is so special, even (or maybe especially)
the ones that are only with us for a short while. Anyway, I love hearing
the latest news from Sandee, and Zeus' passing has made me hug my
naughties a little longer every time I pick them up. Live & learn.

3. As far as my ferret nicknames, here goes.the naughties, the ferts, the
farts, the carpet sharks, the fur snakes, the snakies, etc. And I won't
even get into how I've contorted each of their individual names!

and the rest... [posts combined]

4. [Modern Ferret note deleted -- see lead post in this FML. BIG]

5. I have 2 adrenal ferrets whom I am considering treating with
cryosurgery; I would like to hear from anyone who has done this with
their frets before I proceed.

6. Does anyone know what happened with the woman named Deborah who had
the ferret who needed the leg amputation? Just curious.what a dire
situation!

Thanks all.
hope all is well with you & your fuzzy companions.

Jessica.
